About the Event
At this climate cafe pop up style event we will hear about the issues surrounding the fast fashion industry and have a group discussion about what that means for women locally and globally. We will also explore more sustainable fashion choices and host a clothing swap.
Fast fashion is the term used to describe the fashion industry's business model of mass producing cheap, trendy clothes and selling them quickly, with new 'drops' of up to 52 times a year. They are often promoted by influencers on social media, paid by fast fashion companies to encourage consumers to emulate them and buy cheap, low quality clothes to follow the most up to date trends and in some cases to never wear the same thing twice.
